When most people think of marrying their high school sweetheart they usually have a story of how they attended prom together, attended college together, started their career together, and then went on to marry.  In the case of President-Elect of France, Emmanuel Macron, the love of his life would have likely been ushered off to jail if they had attended prom together.

At the age of 17, he decided that he was going to marry his favorite school teacher and he set out to do exactly that.  The two became involved once he turned 17 though his parents sent him away disapproving of the relationship.  In 2007 the two married, he was 30, she was nearly 55.  His step children include his wife’s daughter who is the same age and a former high school classmate of Emmanuel.  To make things even more interesting, she was his high school sweetheart until he made it clear where his true interest was.
